Hello! I’m Sam

founder of Sound Birthing LLC and creator of the Mind-Body, Birth approach. I am an expert in childbirth psychology. My doctoral research explored improving the childbirth experience and birth outcomes. I am passionate about making anxiety-free childbirth accessible to everyone and helping those who wish to, succeed in human milk feeding. I also hold a Master's in Social Work from the University of Denver with a graduate certificate in animal-assisted social work. As well as a postgraduate certificate in sex therapy and sexual health education from the University of Michigan.

In addition to my academic qualifications, I have completed more than 500 hours of Yoga teacher training. My experience and practice have been enhanced by experts like Melissa Spamer, Angela Farmer, and Rama Jyoti Vernon. I am a Wind Willow Sound Health certified sound therapist. I completed additional sound therapy training through Sage Sound Academy and with Dr. John Beaulieu. I also hold a postgraduate certificate in sex therapy and sexual health education from the University of Michigan.

Outside of work, I'm deeply involved in community service, sitting on several boards and volunteering at a wildlife rescue. My home is filled with love from my rescue dogs, Jack Burton and Rainbow Sprinkles, and my cats, Egg Shen and LoPan Cake. In my leisure time, I am an avid potter. I enjoy reading fantasy romance novels, writing, and exploring the world through travel and hiking.

As a queer, 3rd generation Ashkenazi woman with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, married to an Ojibwe man, my unique life experiences shape my inclusive approach to health and well-being. My diverse professional and academic background has equipped me with a comprehensive skill set, enabling me to offer nuanced and empathetic guidance in assisting others.

I look forward to getting to know you
